The Act Respecting Forestry Professionals (Foresters Act) came into effect May 31, 2012 and gave forestry professionals in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Right to Title. The protected occupational titles as defined in the Foresters Act are:
- Registered Professional Forester, “R.P.F.” or “RPF”;
- Registered Forester, “R.F.” or “RF”;
- Professional Forester, “P.For” or “PFor”;
- Forester-in-Training, “F.I.T.” or “FIT”.
The Foresters Regulations which supplement the Foresters Act were filed by the Minister of Natural Resources on June 26, 2013.
The Association of Registered Professional Foresters of Newfoundland and Labrador is governed by its by-laws which were adopted on June 1, 2014 and have been updated accordingly.
